Privacy Policy

1Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Platform, we collect:

• Account information: your name and email address, and a password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form) or the identity confirmed by Google or Apple if you sign in with them.
• Contact information: phone numbers you give us.
• Booking information: service addresses and their map location, drop-off notes, dates and time windows, bin sizes, materials, swaps, pickups and cancellations.
• Payment information: payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We receive limited details such as the card brand, the last four digits and the payment status; we do not store full card numbers. Where a card is saved for approved additional charges, it is saved with Stripe.
• Supplier information: business and legal names, contact details, yard or office address, service areas, inventory, availability, insurance and incorporation documents, and payout records.
• Service documentation: photographs taken by Suppliers at delivery, pickup and bin swaps, scale tickets and disposal weights.
• Communications: messages sent through the Platform, support requests, and reviews you submit.
• Bin-size helper: if you use it, the description or photo you provide is sent to an artificial-intelligence service to suggest a bin size. We keep the suggestion, not the photo.
• Technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, and sign-in session records, used to keep accounts secure.

2How we use it

We use personal information to:

• create and secure your account;
• take, price, process and fulfil Bookings, including matching a Booking with a nearby Supplier;
• process payments, refunds, additional charges and Supplier payouts;
• send Booking confirmations, receipts, service updates and account notices;
• verify that services were performed, and resolve disputes, using service documentation;
• vet Suppliers and keep the Platform safe, including preventing fraud and abuse;
• provide support and improve the Platform; and
• comply with legal, tax and regulatory obligations.

We send marketing messages only with your consent, in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You can withdraw it at any time from your account or through the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

3Suppliers

A Supplier sees a Customer’s name, phone number, service address and drop-off notes only after accepting that Customer’s Booking, and only to perform it. Suppliers may not use Customer information for any other purpose.

4Service providers

We use trusted providers to run the Platform. They receive only what they need to provide their service and must protect it. They include:

• payment processing (Stripe);
• address lookup, maps and Google sign-in (Google);
• Sign in with Apple (Apple), where offered;
• website hosting, database and file storage providers;
• email delivery providers; and
• artificial-intelligence providers for the bin-size helper.

Some providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.

5Other disclosures

We may disclose personal information where required or permitted by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of users or GOBINZ, to investigate fraud or payment disputes, or as part of a merger, financing or sale of the business under appropriate confidentiality protections. We do not sell personal information.

6Photographs and service documentation

Delivery, pickup and swap photographs and scale tickets are used for operational, safety, billing, dispute-resolution and fraud-prevention purposes. They are available to the GOBINZ team and the Supplier who took them; where they support an additional charge to a Customer, they may be shown to that Customer. Suppliers are asked not to photograph people or unrelated private areas.

7Security and retention

We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections, restricted access and private file storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner where the law requires us to report a breach.

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements and to resolve disputes, and then delete or anonymize it.

8Your rights

You may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent to uses that are optional (withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some services). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9Cookies and local storage

We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and secure, and your browser’s storage to remember your display settings and a booking you have started. We do not use advertising cookies.

10Age

The Platform is intended for people aged 18 or older.

11Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email, and where the law requires your consent to a change, we will ask for it.
